How to Turn on Right Click, Change Finder Preferences, and Access Applications Not on the Dock

 

Change Finder Preference’s:

 

For Optimum ease of use, this will allow you to see all of your mapped drives and make things easier to access.

  1. Click on the Desktop background so that the Menu Bar displays the word "Finder" just to the right of the Apple icon on the left of the menu bar.

 

2. Click the word “Finder” then select Preferences from the drop-down menu.

 

3. In the window that appears, under the “General” tab, make sure all of the options are selected.

 

 

 

 4. In the Sidebar Tab, make sure everything you see has a check mark beside of it.

 

 

 

  

Enabling Right Click on the Mouse:

 

  1. Click on the “System Preferences” icon in the dock.

 

 

  1. In the window that appears, click on the mouse icon.

 

  1. The mouse settings window should appear, where the right mouse button is located, click on the drop-down menu and change the setting to “Secondary Button.” Right click is now enabled.

 

 

  

 

 

How to Access Applications Not Located in the Dock:

 

There are many ways to see applications you want to access, there are a few:

 

Way #1

 

  1. Clicking the launchpad icon on the dock,

 

 

 

  1. All of your available applications should appear in the following window.

*You can also use the “launchpad” shortcut key, on your keyboard, to get this same menu to appear.         

 

  

Way #2:

 

  1. Open a new finder window by clicking the finder icon in your dock.

 

  1. Click on the “Applications” button in the sidebar to view all applications.

 

 

Way #3

 

  1. Hit the search “magnifying glass icon” in the top right of the menu bar.

 

  1. The “Spotlight” bar should appear, you can type the name of the application you want to access and press “Return” on your keyboard when you see it appear.

 

 

Way #4

 

  1. Click on the Desktop background so that the Menu Bar displays the word "Finder" just to the right of the Apple icon on the left of the menu bar.

 

  1. Then navigate to the tab “Go” and the following drop-down menu will appear. From there you just select “Applications” and then a Finder window with your available applications will appear.
